Welcome To The Flamingo Net!
The Flamingo Net is a south Florida amateur radio club. We have been active since 1954 as a social group for Hams. Most of our activity takes place on the ten meter band, but we also use two meters.

We meet on the air each Friday night, starting on 29.044 MHz at 7:30 PM Eastern time. At 7:45, we move to the Broward repeater, 146.910 MHz (-.6, PL 110.9).  At 7:55  we go south to the K4AG repeater, 147.150 MHz (+.6, PL 94.8). At 8:00, we return to ten meters on 28.444 MHz. We welcome check-ins!

Our activities include hosting Free Fleas (jointly with the UMARC) on the third Saturdays in April and November. These are held in the Physics parking lot of the University of Miami Coral Gables campus. We also hold BBQ's, picnics and dinners at various times throughout the year. We also hold lost transmitter (FOX) hunts (on both ten meters and two meters).
Updates

This site was constructed on April 18, 2003. I will try to keep it updated as to recent or upcoming activity.

The Flamingo Net held a 2m Vehicular Fox Hunt on Sunday morning November 11, 2018. The foxes, Chip and CJ, were hidden in Holland Park in Hollywood, FL . After 40 minutes of frantic hunting, the team of Bill and Charles (WA4TEJ and KB4PFC) found the fox's den in a tower at the northeast corner of the park. Stu and Reesa (KD4JSD) finished a close second and Phil and Ray (KI4DYS and KB4HAY) came in after that. Chip and CJ had a delicious picnic for us in the park and we discussed all of the wrong paths we had followed during the hunt. The next hunt will probably be in January or February of 2019. These hunts, like most of our events, are open to EVERYONE (not just Flamingo Net members), so come to the hunt and find out how much FUN they are!!

Our Free Flea was held on November 17, 2018 in the Physics Parking Lot at the U. of Miami. All went reasonably well, although recording all of the tag numbers was a bit problematic - hopefully I didn't miss any and no one got a ticket! The next free flea will be in the Spring, around March or April, with a probable (maybe small) change in location.

The November 2018 Picnic/BBQ which followed the Free Flea at noon on Saturday November 17, 2018 was a bit of a problem, too. We intended to hold it in Brewer Park, just west of the U. M. campus on Miller (just beyond 62nd Ave.). I checked out the site a month before the date and all was well, but in the interim, the city decided to renovate the grass, etc. and the park was unusuable. We moved to Doug Barnes Park and all worked out fine there - for those who were able to find us! For those who didn't find the revised location, I apologize. Chip, CJ, Stu, Paul, Phil, Ken, Bill, Charles and Fred did make it to the changed spot. Our thanks to chef Fred for the cooking!

The  Flamingo Net UPay4WhatUEat (UP4WUE) dinner took place on Sunday Evening, October 28, 2018. It was attended by Chip, CJ, Stu, Reesa, Bill and Ray.

The Flamingo Net Field Day Event on Saturday, June 23, 2018 was good despite thunderstorms covering the area. Attending were KA4IQI, WA4TEJ, KK4TIO, KM4SJN and CJ, and KD4JSD, in order of arrival. See the What's new page for details

For location and driving information to any of our events, see the "What's new" page.
